You hear this term thrown out very nonchalantly in business circles all the time. Sometimes it is being used correctly and refers to the practice of manipulating web page text and hidden meta content so that search engine spiders will accept your web page as “valid” and “an authority” for a given set of key words or phrases. You hope this will result in your content showing up in the free search results at the top, or near the top of the page. Used incorrectly (more common) is refers to traffic increases and high converting results from your web pages.
